If you're a last-minute shopper, Google Maps has you covered this holiday season.

You can now search for products in Google Maps to find nearby stores that have them in stock. For example, you can search "handbags" and see results for stores in your area that have them.

The "products nearby" feature highlights in-store inventory information from retailers. Basically, it's a way to browse what's available and save time scrambling on individual stores' websites.

The updates also include a change designed to make it easier to arrive on time: Users can report transit delays and check which lines or routes are affected. Maps also marks entrances to subway stations and alternate-route options.

Other updates include the ability for certain drivers to add trailer dimensions to help them avoid routes with low bridges and tunnels. Another lets EV drivers plan trips on their phone and send routes with charging stops to their vehicle's Google app. If drivers don't know their plug type, they can add their vehicle's model and see compatible stations.

The Google Maps updates come a couple of weeks after the platform got an AI overhaul with Gemini features. Google also recently updated its Shopping platform with personalized recommendations, AI Overviews-like product briefings, and a deals section.
